Bulk Aggregate Delivery Across Lee County, AR
Arkansas Rock Supply delivers gravel, stone and aggregate delivery in Lee County, AR. Winter and spring rain is the real limit on dirt work here, so most base jobs wait for the midsummer dry spell that shrinks and cracks the clay.
SB-2 base is the material those jobs start from. Order it online and a dump truck tips it on site.
Materials delivered in Lee County
SB-2 base is the standard Arkansas base material. It is a dense-graded 1 1/2 inch minus crushed stone with the fines left in, so it locks up under a roller.
Arkansas cities and engineers write Class 7 into their street, sidewalk and parking standards. Class 7 is the same material under the name a written spec uses.
Class 8 is the 1 inch version. Section 302 covers select material used as a foundation course underneath.
Order SB-2 for driveways, parking pads, shed and building pads and pipe bedding. Use SB-2 Base when you are working to a written standard.
Fill dirt raises low ground and builds a pad up out of the wet before a base course goes on. Shredded mulch holds moisture through an Arkansas summer and keeps bare soil from washing in a thunderstorm.

Delivery covers Marianna, Moro, Brickeys and the rest of the county. The truck tips the material where it lands; the driver does not spread or place it.
Wet winter and spring ground is the constraint on where a truck can go. On Crowley's Ridge around Marianna, water runs off the loess and sheds down steep cuts onto the plain below.
Ground conditions across Lee County
Lee County spans two ground regions. Around Moro and Brickeys the ground is Mississippi Alluvial Plain: deep alluvial silt loam, silty clay and heavy clay, the buckshot and gumbo the Delta is known for.
Around Marianna it is Crowley's Ridge, deep wind-blown loess over Tertiary sand, gravel and clay.
The Delta side is flat with a high water table and clay that barely takes water. Rain stands where it falls, field ditches and bayous drain slowly, and backwater can hold water for days.
A thin base fails there first. Water sits on top of clay, the stone works into the soft ground, and the surface ruts and pumps under a loaded truck.
The fix is a proper base course over fill that gets the pad up out of the wet, with a clean drainage layer where water has nowhere to go.
On the ridge the problem is the opposite. Loess takes rain readily until it saturates, then sheds it, and a freshly cut loess slope wants armoring or planting before the next heavy rain rather than after it.
Frost is shallow here and mild winters are the rule. Frost depth is set by each jurisdiction under the Arkansas residential code, which requires exterior footings at least 12 inches below undisturbed ground.
Saturated clay, not cold, is the winter problem.
Choosing the right material
Crittenden County sits in the Arkansas Delta on the Mississippi Alluvial Plain, the same deep alluvial silt loam, silty clay and heavy clay ground as the Delta part of Lee County. The ground is the same, so the base and drainage choices carry over.
St. Francis County and Phillips County each span the Mississippi Alluvial Plain and Crowley's Ridge, the same two regions Lee County spans.
The ground is the same on both sides of the line.
Where the ground is heavy clay, a compacted SB-2 base over fill dirt is the starting point. Where a slope or a ditch bank is shedding water, rip rap or large river rock armors it.
For a French drain or a downspout run, use a washed stone such as #57 limestone or drain rock so water moves through the voids. Screenings and mason sand bed pavers and fill joints, and washed sand beds and levels under slabs.
